Forming a Poet: Foundations and Components

This course explains the factors and components that help those who wish to compose poetry. It focuses on innate abilities that humans are naturally endowed with, and how nurturing them out of a desire to master poetic composition leads to talent. The course shows how these components can grow and be refined through deliberate practice, and aims to dispel the belief that composing poetry at its basic, initial level is unreachable. Through lectures on poetic themes, meters, linguistic repertoire, language accuracy, and engagement with poetic culture and events, participants are guided to discover and develop their poetic potential.
