About this course
Kickstart your Python journey with this beginner-friendly, self-paced course from IBM. You’ll go from zero to programming in Python in a matter of hours, with no prior coding experience required. The course covers Python basics (syntax, data types, expressions, variables, and string operations), core data structures (lists, tuples, dictionaries, and sets), and fundamental programming concepts such as conditions and branching, loops, functions, exception handling, and object-oriented programming with objects and classes. You’ll also learn to work with files and common file formats, use key data science libraries like NumPy and Pandas for data manipulation and analysis, and develop code in Jupyter Notebooks. Finally, you’ll access and extract web-based data using REST APIs with the requests library and perform web scraping with BeautifulSoup. Through hands-on labs and assignments, you’ll gain practical skills to create basic programs, work with data, and automate real-world tasks—preparing you for roles in data science, data analytics, software development, data engineering, AI, DevOps, and other technology-related fields.
