About this course

This beginner-level course from the University of Michigan introduces the core data structures of the Python programming language. You move beyond basic procedural programming to work with built-in structures such as strings, lists, dictionaries, and tuples to perform increasingly complex data analysis. Through hands-on assignments, you learn to read and write files, store data as key/value pairs, and accomplish multi-step tasks like sorting and looping using tuples. The course covers Chapters 6–10 of the “Python for Everybody” textbook and uses Python 3.
